Well, Skinwalker came out, and did not perform as well as I had hoped. As of right now, it has a 4% retention rate, 1.3% CTR, and less than 40% of people are watching past the 30 second mark, and it gained a total of 5 new subscribers.
I am not sure if the video has been pushed to the wrong people, or if there just isn't an audience for this kind of work. As such, I have decided to change up my strategy.
Here's why:
Skinwalker took too long to make, and for it to justify the length of time it took to create it, I expected 1,000 views over labor day weekend, 5% CTR, and at least 70% retention in the first 30 seconds, 40% whole video retention, and 100 subscribers.
The reason I created those metrics is because a video with those metrics tend to keep moving. I know that I can do this, because my 'Void' video did it to a smaller extent. It reached 1k quickly, had a 10% CTR, 50% retention in the first 30 seconds, and 25% whole video retention, and gained about 80 subscribers.
Void kept performing, and that's what I need on this channel. For every video to perform well enough that it stays in the algorithm. I've noticed that the algo will push every video for 3 days, but, if the metrics aren't high enough, it drops the video.
I also noticed that when that happens, I get less impressions on the next video.
Oh, well. Live and learn, I guess!
